Princeton PhD Jack Weis reports difficulty securing employment

Jack Weis, a 30-year-old chemical engineer, has been unable to secure stable employment since earning his PhD from Princeton in 2024, according to The Independent.

He graduated summa cum laude from Rice University and his research on ice formation and molecular interactions was cited by the committee announcing the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Weis has submitted more than 2,300 job applications for roles ranging from pharmaceutical research and national laboratory fellowships to software engineering and food preparation.

He previously earned $70 an hour doing specialist AI-training work through Mercor, but assignments of four to 20 hours weekly eventually ended.

He has registered for the November LSAT and is considering law school and entrepreneurship, including an AI-assisted drone concept.
