Metrolink suspends Southern Orange County rail service Oct. 26-30

Metrolink will temporarily suspend rail service in Southern Orange County from Oct. 26 through Oct. 30 because of high tide forecasts. The suspension affects the rail line between Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and Oceanside stations. Metrolink will not provide alternate bus transportation during this period. The suspension is intended to minimize potential delays and cancellations if coastal conditions disrupt rail operations. Metrolink will originate and terminate Orange County Line trains at Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo to maintain a predictable schedule. The Orange County Transportation Authority has identified areas of concern along the coast that need improvement. The agency secured $308 million in state and federal emergency funding but has not secured all necessary permits from the California Coastal Commission, the California State Lands Commission and the Army Corps of Engineers to complete the work. First reported by the L.A. Times.
Commuters and travelers using the Metrolink line between Orange County and San Diego will have no train service along the coastal corridor from Oct. 26 to Oct. 30, with no bus replacement provided.
